Jack-headshot_0002_Background copy 2Jack Kaplan is the Senior Vice President - Planning for the Intracoastal Family Office. In this role, he works closely with clients to create and to implement a Family Success Plan to promote client happiness and fulfillment. Most successful businesses have a strategic business plan and mission statement which provides direction and accountability. The Family Success Plan is created in much the same manner, allowing Intracoastal Family Office to serve as “Chief Advisor” for that family as concerns, issues or needs arise. Working with other partners, Jack ensures that the best strategy is in place for the client, making changes when needed.

Jack began his professional career in the academic world in 1963 at the University of Vermont as a Graduate Resident Assistant with the Dean of Men’s Staff. He spent 10 years in various positions such as a financial Aid Counselor and Director of Student Financial Aid, as an Assistant Dean of Students and the Director of Peer Advising and Orientation Programs at The University of Texas at Austin, and as a Fellow at The United States Office of Education. In 1973, Jack became the Dean of the College and the Academic Dean at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee.

In 1977, Jack changed career paths and became a financial consultant with Loeb Rhoades, Shearson and their successors, Citi Markets and Smith Barney. It was at Smith Barney that he met Jeff Eagle, and, in 2007, they partnered to open the Intracoastal Family Office.

Jack grew up as a native New Yorker. He and his wife, Merry, have lived in Florida since 1976 and reside in Palm Beach Gardens. They have two children and four beautiful grandchildren, all now living in South Florida. Jack’s passions are spending time with his family, traveling with Merry, college football (Go ‘Canes!), exercising, snowshoeing, reading and music.

Jack has always been very engaged in community service and in giving back through volunteer activities. In the 1970’s, he was a member the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County; and later, he served as President of Temple Beth David. Jack served as a Board member and Officer at The Greater Palm Beach Area Chapter of the American Red Cross for many years. Jack now serves on the Board of Trustees for The Arc of Palm Beach County, Inc., is a member of its Potentials School Board, and chairs the Arc’s Endowment Advisory Council.

Jack attended Brooklyn College of The City University of New York and earned his B.A. in 1963. In 1966, he earned his M.A. from New York University and his Ph.D. from New York University in 1970. He holds several FINRA designations, including a Series 24 Principal’s license.
